Description
TOCCATA-Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus presents Bach’s powerful, yet intimate and heartfelt, “St. Matthew Passion” in four performances: Reno, Gardnerville, and Incline, April 13 through 19. Composed for a Good Friday service in 1729, the music is Bach at his finest, the text vivid. Intensely moving chorales and arias express Bach’s deeply personal response to the Biblical texts of the Evangelist (the narrator) and central characters of the Passion drama. Don’t expect to be a passive listener: the “St. Matthew Passion” moves the spirit to reflect and to find a way forward. Other performances: Saturday, Apr. 13, 4pm, Reno – Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 357 Clay St. Tuesday, Apr. 12, 7pm, Reno -- First Methodist Church, 209 W. First St. Good Friday, Apr. 19, 7pm, Incline Village – St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, 341 Village Bl.
