GENOA AMERICANA CELEBRATION AND GVFD JULY 4TH CHICKEN BBQ
Welcome to the GENOA AMERICANA CELEBRATION at the Mormon Station State Historic Park, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This year’s 4th of July Celebration in Genoa will prove to be bigger and better than ever before. The day will feature five traditional music groups and will conclude with a performance by the Carson City Symphony & Chorus with soloist, Cherie Shipley at 4:30 pm. The celebration kicks off at 10 a.m. with a children’s parade & opening ceremony. Musical performances by Sierra Silverstrings at 11 a.m., Richard Elloyan & Steve Wade at 12:15 p.m., Reno Swing Set at 1:30 p.m., The Sierra Sweethearts at 2:45 p.m. and the Scottish American Military Society Color Guard at 4:15 p.m.Other activities through out the day include children’s games, musical workshops and jam sessions, and The Locally World Famous July 4th Chicken BBQ brought to you by the Genoa Volunteer Fire Department (GVFD).
Chicken BBQ at the GVFD, starts at 11 a.m. Tickets are available from the GVFD. You can also buy tickets at the Chicken BBQ tent.
The Genoa Americana Celebration is sponsored by Friends of Genoa, Genoa Volunteer Fire Department, Town of Genoa and Traditional American Music Project.
The categories for the parade will be (in no particular order): FLOATS (non motorized); PETS; KAZOOS; COSTUMES; BIKES. Meet at the Genoa Park on Nixon St. across from the church at 9:30 a.m.
