SUMMARY:Heritage of Dressler Family Ranch Honored Saturday at Sharkey’s
DESCRIPTION:Fred Dressler as a young man with Treadway Rickey circa 1925. \n\n Photo Credit: UNR Special Collections\n \n	\n\n\nHeritage of Dressler Family Ranch \n\nHonored Saturday at Sharkey's\n\nThe heritage of the Dressler Family Ranch will be honored this Saturday when Snowshoe Thompson Chapter # 1827 of the Ancient and Honorable Order of E Clampus Vitus dedicates a plaque on the front of Sharkey's recognizing the special bond that Fred Dressler and the Dressler Family had with Sharkey Begovich\, the original owner of Sharkey's Casino. Fred's friendship with Sharkey developed and flourished during the years when Sharkey owned the casino starting in the 1970s and extending into the early 1990s. Fred\, his son Frederick\, son-in-law Louis Bergevin and other members of the ranch crew had many meals at Sharkey's over the years\, in large part because food was always available. 3 AM breakfasts were often at Sharkey's rather than at the ranch cookhouse. The same was often true for a late dinner because they had just completed the day's work at 9:30 PM.In the later years Fred's grandson Devere Dressler also joined in these meals.\n\nThe large bronze plaque recognizes the Dressler Ranch which had its start in the mid-1800s. The dedication will take place at 4 PM this Saturday\, January 11 with a number of longtime local Carson Valley residents on hand.
