DESCRIPTION:First Day Hike at Walker River State Recreation Area \n\non Tuesday\, January 1\, 2019\n\n \n\n \n\nYERINGTON\, Nev.   Join park staff on a moderate 4-mile round-trip hike along the East Walker River at the Pitchfork Ranch. \n\n \n\nThe route will follow an old ranch road for about 1.5 miles and then climb a hill to the ridgetop along rocky and uneven ground to a scenic overlook. Participants will enjoy a round of sparkling cider to celebrate the New Year! Along the way\, park staff will discuss the current and future developments of the new state park and highlight a variety of flora and fauna of the region. \n\n \n\nThe hike will take approximately 2.5 hours. Please bring water\, dress for the weather and wear comfortable hiking shoes.\n\n \n\nWHEN: Tuesday\, January 1\, 2019\, 1 p.m.   3:30 p.m. \n\n \n\nWHERE: Please meet at the Visitor Center at Walker River State Recreation Area\, Pitchfork Ranch\, 211 E. Walker Rd.\, Yerington\, NV 89447.  Directions from Yerington: drive south on highway 208 and turn left on East Walker Road.
