Join scientists\, naturalists and conservation professionals at the Pitchfork Ranch unit of the Walker River State Recreation Area on June 8 for a BioBlitz    a communal citizen-science effort to record as many species within a designated location and time period as possible.\n\n \n\nThis program is aimed to enlist the public in learning more about the species found in Nevada's newest State Park. Families\, students\, and individuals are encouraged to partner with a scientist to survey the environment at the park while generating useful data for science and conservation. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. This BioBlitz will use the app iNaturalist to collect data and assemble an inventory of plants and animals. It is advised to have the iNaturalist app installed on a mobile device prior to arrival.\n\n \n\nWHAT: Walker River State Recreation Area BioBlitz\n\n \n\nWHEN: Saturday\, June 8\, 8 a.m.   Sunday\, June 9\, 8 a.m.\n\n \n\nWHERE: Walker River State Recreation Area\, Pitchfork Ranch. Visitors can check-in at the Visitor Center\, 211 E. Walker River Road\, Yerington Nevada\, 89447. Please note that the E. Walker River Rd. entrance off 208 is the only route to the Visitor Center. Minister Road is currently closed to through traffic and not accessible. \n\n \n\nWHO: This event is open to the public. Multiple agencies\, non-profit organizations\, and students from the University of Nevada\, Reno\, will be participating and assisting visitors.\n\n \n\nCOST: The BioBlitz is a free event. Park entrance fees are waived on June 8 for "Discover Nevada State Parks Day."
