Nov 4    DCFS Info Night for Douglas County Community Leaders
The Carson Valley Active 20-30 Club #85 invites yout to be a part of the Division of Child and Family Services' Info Night.  This event is being held at the Douglas County Community Center, in the CVMC Room, on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 beginning at 6:00pm and lasting until about 7:00pm.  The 20-30 Club has recently begun to help DCFS in their venture to creat more knowledge and awareness in our community about the need for Foster Parents.  This event will provide an opportunity for you as a community leader to discuss and learn how you may help in the opportunity to help our community's children have safe and reliable places when their home situation becomes unsafe.

We hop to see you at this even!  Food and drinks will be provided.  all we ask is for an hour of time to begin a discussion about what Foster Care does for a community, and what we as a group can do to help our children stay in a community that loves them.  The  20-30 Club and DCFS hope to see you there!

Sincerely,
Tim Provost

The event will be held in the Valley Ballroom from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.   Veterans and active military personnel simply present your military ID for entrance, and lunch for you and your guest is on the Carson Valley Inn!  Don't have your ID? Nov 19    Annual Joint Breakfast Meeting
Each year, the Chamber joins with the Business Council of Douglas County and the Northern Nevada Development Authority to present the Joint Breakfast meeting.  This year, the event will feature a presentation on the EPIC Report, a detailed look at the anticipated rapid growth in Northern Nevada triggered by the opening of the Tesla and Switch projects in the very near future. Our presenters are Bob Potts, the Research Director of the Governor's Office of Economic Development and Jeremy Smith, GIS Coordinator  at the Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Agency since 2011.

Specializing in data collection and dissemination, economic impact analysis, statistical modeling and survey research, Mr. Potts is considered a leading expert in the business and economic environment for the state of Nevada. In his position, Mr. Potts oversees the collection, analysis and reporting of business, socioeconomic and performance information to aid the GOED in the development and diversification of Nevada’s growing economy.
Before joining  GOED, Mr. Potts served as the Assistant Director for the Center for Business and Economic Research at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. While there, he assisted as the university representative and consultant to the business and government communities on local, state, national and international economic trends and business climate.
Over the past 18 years, Jeremy has used GIS in both academic and professional settings.  He holds a PhD in Geography of the University of Colorado Boulder and both an BS and MS in Geography from the University of Nevada Reno.  In the evenings, Jeremy teaches GIS classes at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Both Potts and Smith served on the Technical Committee that oversaw the development of the report. and Surprisingly, the anticipated impact on Douglas County and Carson City in the next five years is predicted to be less than many locals believe.

The presentation will take a look at the methodology used to develop the report and the details of the various growth scenarios. A full breakfast is included in the event fee. Plan to join us as this information is presented for the first time in Douglas County.
